Concrete pump pipes are generally divided into single layer pipes and double layer pipes. Understanding their differences helps construction companies choose the right pipeline system for different pumping applications.
Single layer concrete pump pipes are manufactured using one layer of steel material. They are economical and suitable for normal concrete pumping projects with relatively low pressure and shorter pumping distances. However, their wear resistance is limited, especially when pumping high-strength concrete or operating continuously under heavy workload.
Double layer concrete pump pipes are designed with an inner wear-resistant layer and an outer supporting steel layer. The inner layer usually has higher hardness after heat treatment, which greatly improves abrasion resistance and service life.
Compared with single layer pipes, double layer concrete pump pipes offer several advantages:
* Longer service life
* Better pressure resistance
* Reduced risk of pipe bursting
* Lower replacement frequency
* More suitable for high-rise and long-distance pumping
Although double layer pipes have a higher initial cost, they are more cost-effective in large construction projects because they reduce downtime and maintenance expenses.
For demanding applications such as high-pressure concrete pumping, C60 concrete transportation, or skyscraper construction, double layer concrete pump pipes are usually the preferred choice.
